End of Year Round-up / News For The New Year 04.03.15

So, it's already March and 2015 is in full swing!

Before we touch on what's happening at the start of this year, we'd just like to round up the end of the epic year that was 2014. So, we're giving a big shout out to those who came and rocked out with us and the other bands at the Rebellion Bar gig with Finland's very own Constantine; to the massively succssful Breakout festival; a hot and sweaty gig at the Black Heart show with Order of Voices, Sirens of the Delta; and to cap it all off, the Headbangers Balls, with many awesome bands such as Savage Messiah, Reign of Fury, Vice and more. The shows were awesome, the bands were great, and most of all, you, the fans were immense!

Onto 2015... Our first outing of the year comes in the form of the prestigeous HRH Prog 3 in Wales, playing along side none other than Rick Wakeman. We're then launching the brand new Manchester Rocks website with a headline show at Rebellion Bar in Manchester. And then, we head to The Horn for debut in St. Albans. Also, just announced is our return to SOS Festival in Radcliffe, playing alongside our friends in Triaxis, Vice, and many more awesome bands.

So, that's how 2015 is shaping up for us at the moment, with more exciting news in the pipeline to announce very soon!

Full tour schedule listed below!

Laney Amplification - Just Play It! 25.08.14

As a long time Laney user and proud endorsee, Stephen explains why he loves his beloved IronHeart amp so much!

"The Laney IronHeart range is incredible, and it has become one of my favourite amps to use for everything I do. I used them on 'The False Awakening' for all the guitar tones because of the clarity, depth and warmth these amps produce. One of the few amps which handle 7 & 8 string guitars properly!"
- Stephen Platt

Mark Latham Photography snapped some great shots of Ste live at Bloodstock Open Air on behalf of Laney.

Dan and RJ Announce Orange Amplification Endorsement Deal 19.08.14

Collibus are proud to announce that Dan and RJ are now officially Orange Ambassadors! The guys recently headed over to STS Touring Productions and Rebellion Rock Bar in Manchester for some photoshoots with the very lovely and talented Sabrina Ramdoyal Photography.

Here's what Dan & RJ have to say about their shiny new gear:

"Loving the sound, feel and versatility of Orange amps, which is especially mind blowing considering the simple controls on them. No matter what tone I dial in, it cuts through perfectly, with a tight, bone crushing sound, even when using 7 string or down tuned guitars. I'm still just as impressed with Orange amps, as I was when I first plugged into one nearly 10 years ago! Happy to be an Orange ambassador!
- Dan
"Powerful, responsive, clarity, dynamic, precise, versatile, reliable, simplicity and killer tones. This is what the AD200B brings to the table and that is the reason why I use this amp head teamed up with the OBC810. Im honoured to be an Orange ambassador!"

Bloodstock Open Air Wrap-up 11.08.14

That's us all home - tired, hungover, and smelly - but safe and sound! Bloodstock Festival marked the last summer festival for us this year, and what a way to finish! It was truly immense, and the fact so many friends of ours were there, both as attendees and some performing with their bands, it made the whole festival all the more special for us. We also feel like we've gotten to know a lot of the lovely people in the press tents so well over the summer, that each time we do another interview, it seems more like old friends chatting! (Frazzles and Burger King, anyone?)

The BOA thank you's of course go out to our lovely friends and fans for their amazing support, to our management and crew as always for looking after us, to Laney Amplification and Orange Amplifiers for supplying our MEGA backline, to Sabrina Ramdoyal Photography who has been photographing us all summer and has been so supportive, and a special thank you to Simon Hall for offering us the chance to play such an amazing slot.

Now, if you'll excuse us, we're off for a nap!

It was a genuine honour and pleasure to play for you. The hospitality from the staff was also first class, and the stage crew were fantastic, which always makes our job a hell of a lot easier! And as always, we'd of course like to send a massive shout out to our management and crew for everything they do...

If you'd told us last year we'd be playing thee hat-trick of British metal festivals, we'd probably have laughed at you! But, we've gone and done it... Just 4 weeks from now on 10th August, we'll be hitting the Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock Open Air! We've played many shows in aid of the S.O.P.H.I.E Foundation in the past, and we are honoured to be playing the Sophie Lancaster stage. Download Festival Highlights 16.06.14

Download... Donington... You were amazing! Can't quite put into words right now the epicness of the past few days. So many people to thank for making it all possible... Our manager Mike; our PR rep Niki; our tour manager Paul; our crew Tom, Bryn and Paula; all the awesome people we met backstage and in the media tent; every single person that was in the Pepsi Max tent on Saturday morning to see us (there were a hell of a lot of you!); and of course Andy Copping for offering us the slot! There's a lot more to say, and I'm sure I'll come up with some much more eloquent words to say once I've had a few days to process. But right now, all I can say is thank you all so much for supporting Collibus and making our Download debut as awesome as possible. Cheers, everyone!

Rock the House Application Deadline 06.03.14

Last year, we came across the Rock the House competition, a Parliament ran competition founded by Mike Weatherley MP, which raises awareness of intellectual property rights for musicians. The competition boasts patrons including the likes of Brian May, Alice Cooper, and Rick Wakeman to name but a few; a long list of sponsors including Gibson, Yamaha, Orange Amps, and the list continues; and fantastic prizes and opportunities.

We took a chance and entered our video, Dead Inside, via Bandapp. We were lucky enough to be chosen for the special Mike Weatherley MP Discretionary Rock & Metal Award, and were honoured to be invited down to the awards ceremony at the House of Commons to collect our prize... A slot at the legendary Download Festival 2014! An absolute dream come true!

We were also invited back to perform at the Rock the House 2014 launch night in front of Brian May, Bruce Dickinson, Bernie Marsden (among others), MPs, sponsors and all kinds of people from the music and film industry. A tremendous opportunity! All the while, building and creating hype behind our name with fantastic support and guidance with the release of our debut album, all in the run up to our much anticipated slot at Download Festival. Last week saw the Download team announce us as playing the Pepsi Max stage, which gives us great pride and we are truly humbled.

We are urging all UK based musicians and bands to enter Rock the House now, raise awareness, and be a part of something big! The deadline is 31st March - so get entering, NOW!

Official Press Release 03.01.14

COLLIBUS LAUNCH DEBUT ALBUM

Collibus, the Manchester prog-metallers debut album The False Awakening is set to be released digitally via iTunes, and online, on 20th January 2014.

Having won the 2013 Discretionary Rock Award of Parliaments largest competition, Rock the House, Collibus made history by becoming the first metal band ever to play the House of Commons.

Their winning track Dead Inside has already been featured on Scuzz and the band have been booked to play Download Festival in 2014.

Lead vocalist, Gemma Fox, said:

This is the album I have always wanted to make and it has come out exactly as we had wished. It has been a real labour of love, blood, sweat and tears to make The False Awakening and we couldn't be prouder or more excited as a band that it has come together. All credit goes to Ste whose perfectionism we have to thank for its production.

Rock the House Founder, Mike Weatherley MP, said:

I have no doubt that metal and prog rock fans will love this album as much as I do, I literally have not been able to listen to anything else since the band have drip-fed me the tracks as the album was in development. They were fantastic when I first saw them, then again in Parliament and I cant wait to see them play Download!

Alexander Milas, Editor-in-Chief, Metal Hammer, hailed Collibus and The False Awakening:

A heady dose of full-on, red-blooded British Heavy Metal

Rock The House Launch 2014 25.11.13

Well, folks. Gemma here...

Nearly a week has passed since our big night at the Houses of Parliament. We've needed this long just to recuperate and get our heads around everything that happened! What a fantastic evening, the magnitude of which was overwhelming in a way we could never have predicted. The day started off a bit bumpy with us missing several interviews for various reasons; dodgy phone signals, power cuts, make-overs taking too long - you name it, it happened!

But, when we arrived... Wow. Upon arrival we were told the mighty Bruce Dickinson was there - an icon and legend. The pressure started to build a little (more) there and then! And then, who else should walk through the door, but none other than Dr Brian May himself! I say walked... He sort of hovered in like rock royalty which made each of us gasp unexpectedly and uncontrollably. The pressure was truly on at this point. Upon being introduced to Brian, it was clear what a true legend he actually is, and such a pleasure to meet. The man is nothing but a complete gentleman, and so patient as he posed for every photograph requested. Genuinely interested in us and our music and enthusiastic to meet and talk to us. And then I overheard something amazing... Mike Weatherley asked him if he would say a few words and introduce us on stage, to which Brian agreed with excitement. At this point, I was a gibbering wreck - very glad there was complimentary wine as I needed it more than ever!

And when the time came to start setting up, of course we came across the usual 'technical issues' and general rushing around, perhaps more so than usual in this instance. Brian came on stage, said his piece, and what an absolute honour it was to be stood on the same stage as a personal hero of mine. We each took a deep breath and started playing. A short but sweet set, in front of extremely proud (and tearful) family members, MPs, famous musicians, and loads of influential people from the music industry. And did I mention Brian May?? That was one tough gig, but we made it through!

Rock The House was then followed by an aftershow party in our honour at a rather awesome little pub called Crobar. We had such a blast! Our album was introduced (followed by full play on the jukebox) by the rather cool Mr Alex Milas of Metal Hammer/Team Rock Radio - I think we have made a new fan there! The night was full of drinking, laughing, and very good times indeed! Followed by a well needed kebab on the way back to our accommodation!

I don't think we can thank everyone involved enough for everything. To Mike and the lovely Niki in particular, who managed to pull off this amazing, prestigious event, that we are honoured to have been a part of. I hope we did the history of rock & metal, and Parliament proud!

Bands & musicians out there - we urge you again to enter Rock The House 2014! You never know where it might get you, and in the end you're helping yourself and your fellow musicians to raise awareness of Intellectual Property Rights. As Brian May said on the night,

"You wouldn't go into your local shop and steal a loaf of bread, so why would you want to steal music?"

Album Launch Announced / Rock The House 2014 28.10.13

Greetings, all!

Firstly, we would like to thank every single one of you for being extremely patient and supporting Collibus over the past few months, and even years! We've had our share of ups and downs, and even felt like giving up at points, yet soldiered on through all the bullshit and let downs... We're finally approaching the other side and it's all beginning to pay off, which comes as great relief to us! Our recent management signing is pushing us in all the right directions, with some very exciting times ahead indeed. So, without further ado, it is with delight that we can now announce the official release date for our long, long awaited album, 'The False Awakening'...

On Tuesday 19th November, we are honoured to have the fantastic opportunity of coinciding our album launch with the prestigious Rock The House Awards 2014 launch at the Houses of Parliament. For those who are unaware, we won the 2013 Discretionary Rock Award, hand picked from 100s of entries from all over the UK, and officially offered a slot to play Download Festival 2014. Since then, we have been working behind the scenes to make the launch of our album something extremely special...

We will be the first ever Heavy Metal band to play live at the House of Commons, performing live on the Pavilion Terrace in front of MPs, musicians, and all sorts of influential people from the music industry. Collibus are making history here, folks! Considering MPs once attempted to ban Rock The House Patron, Alice Cooper, from performing in the UK, the fact that such an event is even happening in the first place is a tremendous achievement and a giant step for UK music. An official press release will be posted in the run up the launch.

An after show party is also being organised in our honour, details of which TBA, where our album will be played in full. To say we are excited would be an understatement. We urge any unsigned band or artist to enter Rock The House 2014 - you never know where it might get you! Please, check it out!

While the official launch will be by invite only, do not despair. We are planning a local album party in Manchester, TBA. We feel like celebrating, and hope you will join us!

Rock The House Award 28.06.13

Hi everyone, Gemma here!

Those of you who have been checking out our Facebook and Twitter updates will no doubt already know of our good news. On Monday we found we had indeed won a Discretionary Award at Rock The House as chosen by founder Mike Weatherley MP himself. Being chosen in itself was a indeed a great honour, and the days that followed, including travelling down to London to attend the awards on the House of Commons terrace, were surreal to say the least! We certainly did not expect to be drinking wine and eating canaps with politicians, music industry people, and famous musicians on the Pavilion this week - or ever!

And what did we win, exactly? Well, get saving up now, because we are going to Donington... Collibus have officially been confirmed a slot at Download Festival 2014! It is very early days, and we do not as of yet have any further info. But, rest assure - when we know - you'll know! We would like to thank everyone at Rock The House, everyone that made us feel welcome, and especially to Mike for choosing us for such a special award. We encourage any one of you who are in a UK band or a solo artist to apply for next years competition. It is refreshing to see our country's politicians supporting live and original music, and really is an amazing opportunity. We're waiting for official photos, but for now, here is a shot of Ste and I posing with our certificate!
